Storyline

Joey still hasn't returned the car he rented to drive to L.A., his latest attempt fails with a $1,200 fine. Alex is nervous how her husband, orchestra viola-player Eric, will get on with Joey, but meeting him at the hot-tub seems to put Eric's mind at rest, which makes Joey fear his looks are waning; his attempt to make a sexy impression only makes him look gay... Gina is sick and tired of working for her horrible boss Viktor, so Michael insists Joey should repay all her sincere help by lending her money from his savings for a hair-salon of her own, the ultimate attraction being getting to name it. The Tribbiani boys think Gina's lack of enthusiasm for a good location is because they are taking over too much, but... Written by KGF Vissers

"I've got the dragons to prove it"

Alex's husband returns and seems a bit put out, at least initially, about his wife spending so much time with a single guy in Joey. That combined with a story about Joey (yes, he's in both story lines again!) lending Gina money.

The writer seemed unsure what to do with the Joey/Alex relationship, and turning her from 'friend' into a 'potential love interest' led to complications. I think they would have been better served to have her be a friend for him, and have another potential love interest come in.

It's a well played out episode though (especially the scene with Joey trying to prove to Eric that he's sexy), but the Gina story was weaker.

'Joey' as a show is often used as a punch line, but it's a far better show than people make it out to be.
