When Bobbie finds Joey distracted, she recommends hiring a personal assistant, even though her PA, gay MBA Jason, is mainly used as an amusing buffoon. A combination of practical sense, understanding Joey's infantile mind and devoted loyalty clearly makes experienced Glen from Minnesota the obvious best choice. Life with a smart dogsbody proves much easier, until Glen dates Gina, who never has such a god date either... Meanwhile Alex tries to mediate between Michael and fellow nerd Seth Tobin, who wants to file alone a patent for a rocket protection substance they invented together and considers a Pepperdine graduate about as smart as a cockroach, which rather applies to Joey as eye-witness who understood not a single word, so they bluff- in vain, until Joey... Joey Tribbiani: I got to be honest with you here, Glen. You're blowing my mind. All right, let's get down to the serious stuff. Who would in a fight, Dracula or The Wolf Man.
Glen: Definitely The Wolf Man.
Joey Tribbiani: What? No way. How?
Glen: Because he'd fight Dracula until dawn, and then Dracula would turn into dust and The Wolf Man would just turn into a normal dude.
Joey Tribbiani: I never thought of it like that. That changes everything.

Joey gets an assistant in this fun episode of the show.

I think the idea of Joey getting an assistant proved ultimately to be a wasted opportunity for the show in general, as in Richard Ruccolo's Glen not only did they have a perfect candidate to fill the void of 'Joey's friend' which was much needed, but he also provided Gina with stories. Ruccolo would have been a fine regular addition to the cast. Sadly though he only appears here and one other episode.

The B story involving Alex and Michael is fine in itself, with a nice guest turn from Simon Helberg, though quite why Joey had to appear in it (other than that the show's called 'Joey') is beyond me. You can have too much of a good thing, and Joey being in every scene of every episode was a good example of that.

The main story is great, and carries the episode.
