    • Trivia
When the series was shown in the United States, at least some PBS affiliates chose not to air this episode because of the scenes with various characters in blackface, including an entire minstrel musical band.
    • Quotes

Reginald Jeeves: Foreign travel often liberates emotions best kept in check, sir, and the air of North America is notoriously stimulating in this regard, as witness the regrettable behaviour of its inhabitants in 1776.

Bertie Wooster: What happened in 1776, Jeeves?

Reginald Jeeves: I prefer not to dwell on it if it's convenient to you, sir.

Out of all the stories they could have chosen to adapt...

The only show I know where two men in blackface can bond over hitting a child. This was 1991? It might as well have been 1950 with how dreadful this is to watch. Some parts of 1920s culture are best left unexplored.
