garbage in garbage out

I can't believe the navy allows this kind of stuff to get in print ... so much for realism .. tomcats would not be playing airflow games even with experienced pilots like the blue angels ...the writers are really reaching for stories ... writing a letter to resign your commission is a myth and doesn't work ... if you are a reserve officer you will appear before a board and if you are a regular officer you can't resign and are subject to recall even after retirement.

The setting afloat is USS Coral Sea (CV-43), an aircraft carrier of the Midway class; she served 1947-90. She was redesignated as CVA-43 in 1952, and she remained as such for the remainder of her service. She was known by the nickname of the Ageless Warrior.

Goofs
There are three (at least) different hull numbers shown for the "Coral Sea". One shot shows the superstructure number with a 65, the hat worn by the CAG has CVN-43 (Correct) on it, finally there is a scene with a life buoy that has Coral Sea CVN-75. The Coral Sea was CVB-43/CVA-43/CV-43 and was conventionally (oil) powered. CV-43 is non-nuclear. CVN-75 is the Harry S. Truman which is a nuclear powered carrier.
