The show was originally written to have Ralph and Alice move a special basement apartment for the janitor once he takes the janitor job. It would have a climax where Ralph accidentally has a load of coal dumped into their living room. It ended up being written out because of Gleason's reluctance to do much away from that apartment set. See more
When Ralph picks up the house phone for the second time, the off camera stagehand does not stop the buzzer noise effect in time after Ralph has taken the ear piece off the hook and the sound effect continues for a few more seconds. Jackie Gleason covers however by hitting house phone acting as if it is not working properly. See more
