This episode provided an early role (and the first television role) for Jake Gyllenhaal, who was 12 at the time. He had already been in a few movies, most of which (like this episode) were directed by his father, Stephen Gyllenhaal. See more »

The first show of the very, very abbreviated second season--which was treated more like a mid-season replacement return--of this great series features Robin Williams as the husband and father of a small Iowa family whose wife is shot and killed in front of him in a botched robbery attempt by some street kids a few blocks from Camden Yards. Besides being a crushing, emotionally powerful episode that featured some fantastic scene-work by Williams,Kyle Secor and Daniel Baldwin, this also featured one of the earliest appearances of one JAke Gyllenhaal(whose dad directed this show. Go figure!),who is,naturally, almost unrecognizable. An episode that will probably stick with you long after you see it. I know it did that for me.
