While working with Buck, Manolito is bitten by a rattlesnake. He goes to an abandoned adobe while Buck goes for help. Manolito awakens to find himself tended by a priest, two nuns and a young woman, Maria. They plan to start a convent there after theirs was burned by a one-eyed man in the area by Manolito's father. Big John gives Buck the job of convincing the group the location is unsuitable for a convent while Manolito falls in love with Maria. Manolito learns the one-eyed man Ramon killed Maria's father but has escaped jail and is stalking her. When the group returns to the ranch house, Ramon attacks the guards as he tries to contact Maria who he wishes to marry. Maria wants to become a nun but leaves the ranch to find Ramon to end the danger to others. Manolito finds her and tries to convince her to stay with him but Ramon spots them. The slightly wounded Manolito and Maria hide in the adobe in a standoff with Ramon. Ramon challenges Manolito to a fight without guns but then pulls a knife. In the struggle a falling roof causes Ramon to fall on his knife. In the end the group decides to go to San Francisco to a convent there, including Maria.
