A Review Only Regarding The "Four-Eyed Jack" Segment
31 October 2018 | by michaelgarykelley1994See all my reviews

Definitely one of the creepiest episodes of "Hey, Arnold!". I'm surprised this wasn't the first Halloween special they ever did, considering how eerie it actually is. This is a masterful episode of an already high-quality show.

Essentially, Arnold and Gerald find glasses in a box of books that Arnold's grandfather ends-up claiming are the glasses of a man killed inside the boarding house they live in, before they ever arrived. Grandpa also explains that the dead man-named Four-Eyed Jack-now haunts the old house. Arnold and Gerald go on a hunt for this specter.

This episode-especially its final moment-TERRIFIED me, as a child. There's not many creepy episodes of TV in all of TV's existence that matches-up with how powerful and effective this episode is. For only a ten-or-so-minute episode, this was simply fantastic, especially since I had nostalgic feelings towards it. I'll never forget this episode, as long as I live.

The music is also fantastic, here. I never hear people mention how great "Hey, Arnold!"'s music tends to be! It's so underrated!

The animation is smooth.

I have to say that I'm impressed with the "dark-and-stormy-night" feeling this episode creates so well. Again: it's masterful.

If you haven't seen it, you MUST-especially if you happen to be a fan of Arnold.
