Though early episodes were set immediately after the Civil War, this episode centers on singer Jenny Lind coming to Seattle as part of the celebration of Washington Territory's admission to the union. Washington did not become a state until 1889, some 24 years after the Civil War and two years after Jenny Lind had died.
