Trivia

Sam's newsstand overlooks Smiler's, one location (since closed) of a local chain of mini-markets, and a business named United Cigars. This is actually Village Cigars, which moved here in 1922, became a local landmark during the following decades, and is still in business as of 2018. It's possible that the producers weren't willing to pay for a property release to film such an iconic business and chose to disguise it - with a similar sign featuring white capital letters on a red backdrop - instead.
