This was the lowest-rated first-run Five-O in the series' history, although it appears to have drawn more viewers than the 2010 version generally gets (and that show usually broke the top 20 in the audience meters).

    Overly complicated....
As I have said on so many reviews of previous episodes of "Hawaii Five- O", the final two seasons were pretty dreadful. It was obvious that the writers simply ran out of ideas--and it's no surprise since the show ran for 12 seasons. Often they remade earlier episodes (and they never came close in quality), had plots about the supernatural or came up with ridiculously complicated plots. "Labyrinth" is clearly one of these overly complicated episodes--and because of this, there were a lot of plot holes and complications.

The show begins with a lady being chloroformed by her chauffeur. Soon, McGarrett is called in by a family friend who is reporting the kidnapping, though the husband (James Olson) isn't very cooperative. Naturally, the police eventually think it is some sort of inside job-- and I simply don't want to get into it, because it never makes any sense. Why have the traffic accident a year ago and subsequent plastic surgery? Why all the crazy betrayals at the end? Why not just a simple story about a kidnapping that didn't employ exact doubles, bombs and scuba divers who appear to have gone miles in order to make some rendezvous? It's all quite unconvincing and silly--and a sub-par show. Is it any wonder that this show represents the lowest rated episode ever?! Not terrible...but not good.
