    • Trivia
This is the final appearance of three for Angela Clarke, who plays Mrs. Crabbe, the boarding house owner. She continued acting until 1986, and she passed away December 16, 2010 at 101 years of age.
    • Goofs
After Elwood buys a jackknife for the little boy, Matt is seen walking by a poster advertising Kitchen Queen Baking Soda, a real product of the early 1900s. Kitchen Queen filed papers as a for-profit corporation in the State of Texas on 31 January 1898 (too late to be available in the series' time frame). It was discontinued in the 1910s. Replicas and, possibly, actual tins for the product are available online.

      [last lines]

Kitty: I'm sure the right girl will come along someday. Maybe in California.

      Elwood: California.

Matt Dillon: Well sure. You got a lotta livin' to do yet.

Doc: You bet you have. And I never saw anybody that could have more fun at it than you, either.

Elwood: I never did before. I guess I never really started to live until I... I thought I was gonna die. Maybe that Professor Ramsey did me a favor.

Matt Dillon: You're a lucky man, Mr. Hardacre.

Elwood: I guess I am, Marshall. I guess I am.

    A+ to Herbert Anderson!
I will spare you the episode summery and just give my thoughts on it. This is a lighter episode and refreshingly so! In spite of one reviewer's opinion I was delighted to see the terribly underrated actor Herbert Anderson in such a large role since Dennis the Menace.
