As of this year, I've watched this episode on DVD for fifteen years in a row, during October or on Halloween night itself. And it never gets old.
The comedic writing is PERFECT, on this episode. The jokes never get old. This may very well be the most timeless cartoon (and, in particular, episode of a cartoon) that exists on the planet. And it's absolutely hilarious. Any moment involving Irwin is brilliant. My favorite quote is when Irwin is wearing his turtle costume, approaching Billy, Mandy, and Grim. Irwin says, dressed as a turtle, holding up eggs in his hand: "And these are my eeeeggs. Preeeeeeettyyyyy creepyyyyy, aye, Maaaaandyyyyy?"
I laugh so hard, every time I watch this particular episode.
The voice actors are perfectly cast, and just couldn't be more fantastic in their comedic timing. Especially the newest edition, as a villain: Jack O'Lantern-a man who had an encounter with Grim, and lost his head, which he then replaced with a pumpkin. The voice actor for Jack is one of the best voice casting decisions that I've ever seen done, and I'm an enormous movie fanatic. The guy kills every line he's in. This episode, as wonderful as the atmosphere and plot is, would not be as great if this awesome, talented man had not voiced Jack. I'd recommend it alone just for him!
The music and theme song for this Halloween special is absolutely chilling. It will stick with you, especially if you grew-up on this episode like I did. I watched this episode the very night it premiered on Cartoon Network, and its always been my favorite episode of my favorite show, "The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy". I remember my friends and I being so excited to see it.
The ending is so fitting for this show, and so fitting for the mix of dark humor and one-liners this particularly special episode contains.
Again: please watch this, if you haven't before. You'll never, EVER regret it-especially if you're a big Billy and Mandy fan, like myself.

Jack O'Lantern: Three hundred and sixty-four days a year. I can't even go to the ding-dong grocery store to buy pudding. And do you know why?
Billy: Ooh, ooh, is it because you're a pumpkin-headed freak?
Jack O'Lantern: Yes! And why is that?
Billy: Is it 'cause Grim cut your real head off?
Jack O'Lantern: Yes. And tonight, I'm going to return the favor.
Billy: You're going to cut Grim's head off? Don't be an idiot. Grim's head is removable; observe.
[removes Grim's head]
Jack O'Lantern: Ah, but any head cut off with the Grim Reaper's scythe stays off... forever!
Billy: That's a different story. Sorry, Grim ol' boy, tough break.
[Walks away]
Billy: Well, we sure had some good times together, eh, Grim?
[Guffaws]
Grim: You're just going to leave me here?
Jack O'Lantern: Now, now, that's no way to get *a head*!
Grim: That's not funny.
Jack O'Lantern: [Snaps fingers, commanding tree ghoul to restrain Grim] Come on, now, where's your sense of humor?
[laughs deviously and whistles casually while placing a basket where Grim's head will drop after decapitation]
Grim: Oh, poop.
[Billy whistles casually and realizes the whole decapitation issue]
Billy: [Runs off, panicked] Grim's in trouble! Help, police!
