Dramatic side of Bud
27 March 2011 | by See all my reviews

One of the rare TV appearances by Bud Abbott. Playing along with Lee Marvin and Mala Powers. Bud plays the patsy manager to stand-up nightclub comedian Lee Marvin. But the act behind the scene is quite dramatic. Lee is abusive to his manager (Bud) and just as well to his wife -played by Powers. No comedy here for Bud - straight drama. Unfortunately Bud doesn't have that much screen time. Marvin fires him as his manager about 10 minutes into the show and that's the last we see of him. The rest of the episode dwells on the relationship between Lee and Mala as she tries to win him back by pulling at his heart strings by adopting a foster child. Though it is nice to see Bud back on the screen only a few years after Lou Costello's death.
