Storyline

The episode picks up exactly where the last one ended. Ross chose Rachel's room and they kiss. Ross breaks up with Bonnie. Phoebe learns that her real mother, her supposed mother and her father used to be together and Phoebe's real mother (also called Phoebe). Phoebe is mad at her for not trying to come find her before. Joey, Chandler and Monica are at the beach when Monica is stung by a jellyfish. Chandler had to pee on Monica's leg to relief her of the pain. Ross unintentionally takes full responsibility for everything that went wrong between him and Rachel. Phoebe's mum comes to apologize and to tell Phoebe she regrets giving her up as a baby. Ross and Rachel get into another fight because Ross says he doesn't believe he was the one who did anything wrong.

As he is now in vision in character as Joey for this episode recap, it could now be considered plausible that every "The one with..." is a dramatisation of Joey recounting a situation episode.

Goofs

Chandler says he can sometimes hear Joey screaming at him late at night like he did at the beach. Joey says that he just does that to freak Chandler out. However, Phoebe, Ross, and Rachel are all in the same clothes as they were at the beach indicating that it is still the same day. Therefore, Joey would not have been able to do the shouting late at night as they have not slept yet and certainly could not have been a few times as was implied.
