Ross tells Rachel that he had been with Carol for 8 years. However, in Friends: The One with the Flashback, he said that he was with Carol for 7 years. Both numbers are wrong since Ross and Carol had known each other for just 6 years by 1993 (they met in college, which Ross started in 1987), the year Friends: The One with the Flashback is set. Even if we ignore that episode and go with the version presented in Friends: The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate, set in 1994 and according to which Carol had just moved out, Ross and Carol had known each other for just 7 years by then. [Ross, Joey and Chandler talk about how Ross is pushing Rachel to Mark]
Chandler: She starts thinking, 'Maybe this is the guy for me because he understands me.'
Joey: And before you know it. she's with him and you'll be all, 'Oh man!' And he'll be all, 'Yes!' And us, we'll be like, 'Oh, dude!' And pretty soon you'll be like, 'Hi.' And, and, 'Well I can't go. Rachel and Mark might be there.' And we'll be like, 'Man get over it, it's been four years!'
Chandler: He paints quite a picture, doesn't he?
