Storyline

Rachel claims to be over Ross and Monica sets her up with a date. Rachel doesn't concentrate on her date and gets really drunk because she is upset that Ross and Julie are going to buy a cat together. Her date tells her she needs a "closure" to get over Ross. Rachel then calls Ross and leaves him a message saying she is over him. When Ross hears the message he is taken aback that Rachel has feelings for him and is very confused. Ross refuses to buy a cat and tells Rachel she had no right telling him about her feelings because he was ok before he knew and now he isn't. They argue and kiss - for the first time! Trivia

There is an alternate version of this episode where, during the final scene when Ross comes back to the coffee house, Rachel tries to let him in, but she struggles to unlock and open the door, and Ross says "try the bottom {lock}" from outside. It is unknown if this is cut from the syndicated versions on certain channels or why it is sometimes shown both ways. See more »

Weird Episode To Watch
8 December 2014 | by See all my reviews

A weird episode for me this one.

Plot In A Paragraph: Upset that Ross is buying a cat with his girlfriend Julie, Rachel gets drunk on a date and leaves him a drunken voicemail saying she is over him. Meanwhile when Chandler is upset when he finds out he has put on a little weight, an unemployed and bored Monica appoints herself his personal trainer (Even if he wants her to or not) and Phoebe worries the guy she is dating does not think she is sexy enough as he doesn't seem to want to sleep with her.

My mixed feelings on this episode stem from the Phoebe storyline being very sexist. The Chandler and Monica storyline was fun, but again David Schwimmers acting was awkward to watch once he heard the voicemail.

But we get to see Ross and Rachel have their first real kiss.

A generous 7/10 for the Perry and Cox storyline and the first kiss.
