  • A racist uses a cursed antique car radio to travel back to 1954 and tries to prevent the arrest and death of his father, a member of the KKK.
  • Johnny unwittingly sells a car radio that someone brought in, not knowing it's one of the cursed items. The guy who bought it puts it in his brother's car. The brother hates all blacks because he blames them for his father's death. It seems like in 50's before he was born, his father's with the KKK and he killed a black man and would be arrested, tried and executed. He later runs into a black boy and kills him, he then gets blood on his hands and gets some of it on the radio and then finds himself back in the 50's and runs into his father and tries to warn him about what's going to happen. He goes back to the present to get proof of what's going to happen to his father, Jack and Johnny while trying to get the radio back goes back with him when he goes to the past and try to stop him.—rcs0411@yahoo.com

Sinopsis

  • At the Pierce house in the garage, Archie Pierce is working on his younger brother Ray's 1950s Chevy along with Ray. They're listening to 1950s music on the radio, and Archie notes that Ray was just a "bun in the oven" in 1954. He shows Ray a photo of Archie as a boy, along with their parents Steve and a pregnant Margaret. An elderly Margaret brings them coffee, and tells Archie to go to bed early because he has work in the morning.

Once Margaret goes back in the house, Archie reads the photo date, which is May 17, 1954, in Larksburg, Mississippi. Ray remember it as the day all white folks got in trouble, and says that Steve had no choice and someone had to teach the "coloreds" a lesson. A black neighbor boy, Elliot, comes by, sees the Chevy, and comes in to admire it. Archie greets him and says that the Chevy is Ray's car. Ray calls Elliot "boy", and asks why his name. When Elliot says that he'll selling candy to raise money for his band at school, Ray shoves him onto the car. Elliot knocks over a box of mementos, and the furious Ray grabs a shotgun and aims it at Elliot.

Elliot runs out, and Ray promises to get him another time. Archie covers his ears and closes his eyes.

A few days later at Curious Goods, Johnny buys some junk from a neighbor woman, Frances. They haggle over the price, and Johnny finally gives in. Archie comes in as Frances leave, and notices a car radio among the things Frances sold Johnny. Archie says that it's from a '54 Chevy and a factory model, and his brother used to have one but it got broken. Seeing a bargain, Johnny sells it to Archie for $25 even though Archie says he has $100 in his pocket from cashing his paycheck.

Later at the Pierce garage, Archie gives the car radio to Ray, who installs it in his father's Chevy. Archie points out that Steve went away because he killed a man, and Ray says that Steve killed a black sharecropper and no one would have thought twice about it except for a black lawyer. Archie nods along then tells Ray that he doesn't like it when Ray says racial slurs. He also doesn't like what Ray did to Elliot, and Ray tells Archie that he might be slow but he doesn't have to be stupid.

Ray shows Archie a photo album of Steve as a KKK member, and says that Steve would turn in his grave if he knew Archie was friends with a "colored'. Archie vaguely agrees.

Micki returns to the shop and asks Johnny if he sold anything. Johnny mentions the car radio and explains that he sold it to Archie. However, he didn't check the manifest first. Micki does, and discovers that Lewis sold the car radio and it's one of the cursed items. Jack arrives and realizes something is wrong by Micki's dismayed look. Johnny explains that he sold a cursed antique, and insists that Archie wouldn't hurt a fly. He doesn't have Archie's last name, but recognized the car wash patch that he was wearing from where he worked. Jack goes to check the file on it, while Micki and Johnny go to find the car wash and Archie.

Ray, drinking, drives around in the Chevy, and sees Elliot playing basketball on an outdoor court. Drawing a revolver, Ray shoots the backboard and then the asphalt at Elliot's feet. He tells Elliot not to walk away at him, and asks if his basketball court makes Elliot something special. Ray asks Elliot if he has "natural rhythm", and shoots at his feet and tells him to dance. Elliot shoots and Ray hits him by accident with his next shot.

Ray confirms Elliot is dead and touches his body, getting the boy's blood on his hand. As police sirens sound in the distance, Ray leaves. As he drives away, he tunes the radio with his bloody hand. The radio glows with mystic energy and transports the car and Ray to Larksburg, Mississippi, in 1954.

Driving through the city streets, Ray realizes that he's traveled back in time. He parks and gets a newspaper from a machine. The banner confirms the date. Ray goes into the diner past the "No Coloreds" sign and sits down at the counter. He confirms with the waitress where he is, and she gives him directions to Steve and Margaret Pierce when Ray asks.

A black man, Ben Wilten, comes in and asks the waitress Edna if he can buy a loaf of bread for his kids, while his wife is in the hospital. The waitress points out the "No Coloreds" sign and says that it's not up to her to feed Wilten's kids. She orders him out, and when Wilten grasps her arm, a man stands up from a booth and tells Wilten to look at him when he's talking. Wilten says that he touched a white woman by accident, and the man asks if Wilten thinks crowding a white woman is "one of his Constitutional rights." The man says that they might have to let blacks into white school because of the ruling on segregation by the Supreme Court, but they'll kill Wilten before they let him paw white women.

The man slaps Wilten, and Wilten picks him up and throws him onto a table. Other male customers jump Wilten, and hold him while Ray punches Wilten in the gut. The sheriff comes in and tells everyone to break it up, and orders Wilten out. Once Wilten goes, the man says that Wilten touched Edna but didn't hurt her. The sheriff says that even though they might be worked up by the ruling, that isn't a reason to beat up people.

The sheriff notices Ray and asks who he is. Ray claims his last name is "Smith", and the sheriff tells him that the townspeople let him deal with colored when they get out of hand. He tells Ray to watch himself and goes on his way. The man comes over and introduces himself to Ray as Joe Nelson, congratulates him on his punch, and buys him a shake.

In the present, Jack checks the files on the car radio. Micki and Johnny return, and Micki says that Archie's last name is "Pierce" and he won't be back until the next morning. They've also learned that Archie has a brother, Ray. Johnny apologizes again, and Jack points out that "sorry" isn't good enough when it comes to people's lives.

Johnny says that he'll look for the radio himself. Jack apologizes, saying that he's angry at the situation rather than Johnny. He notes that they sold hundreds of cursed antiques the way that Johnny did once.

Ray and Joe walk down the street, and Ray says that it's "pure". Joe says that it will never change, and Ray warns that all kinds of minorities will come to America, run for President, and marry their women. Chuckling, Joe admires Ray's imagination and says that Steve isn't big on strangers but Ray will fit right in. They go into the Pierce house, where Steve is throwing bottles at the wall in anger and complains to his male neighbors about the ruling. A young Archie is sitting in the living room as well, listening.

Steve says that they have to show colored s0their place, and his neighbors agree. Archie agrees with his father. A young Margaret serves drinks, looks at Ray, and exchange a look with him before leaving. Steve pats her pregnant stomach, and Joe introduces Ray to Steve. He explains that Ray worked on Wilten a little when Wilten got out of hand, and Steve asks Ray if he wants to come along with them. Ray agrees, and Steve says that they have thirsty work ahead of them.

Archie and Margaret are cleaning up the garage when Micki and Johnny come by. Archie remembers Johnny, and Micki claims she promised the radio to one of their own customers. All they know is that Ray went driving but not where he is, and Micki asks them to have Ray give them a call when he gets back. As they go, Micki and Johnny agree to wait for Ray.

Steve and his friends don white robes and go out to burn a cross in a field in objection to the ruling. They all agree that they're not going to let the Yankee tell them what to do, and Steve says that they're going to do more than burn crosses. Ray warns Steve that he'll be arrested for murdering Wilten, but Steve doesn't believe him. When Ray says that there's a woman that's a witness, but he doesn't know her name, Steve jokingly says that they'll keep an eye out for her and kill her if they see her.

Later, the KKK take Wilten to a barn, tie him to a rafter, and Steve says that they have a right to defend their race. They whip Wilten for "assaulting" a white woman, and when Steve comes over to cut him down, Wilten rips off his hood revealing his face. Steve tells the others to finish Wilten off, and one KK member grabs the whip and beats Wilten to death.

In the present at the Pierce house, Jack joins Micki and Johnny with takeout food. Ray hasn't returned yet, and Jack tells them that Lewis kept clipping on some of the artifacts. He warns that they might be dealing with time travel, and the car might drive Ray to 1954.

In 1954, the KKK runs to their cars laughing and cheering after they've killed Wilten. Steve tells Ray that there was nothing to worry about, just like he said. Ray wonders if his being there changed things, and Steve jokingly agrees before driving off. Ray gets in the Chevy and drives away, and when he wipes the blood off the radio the car travels back to the present.

The trio see the Chevy arrive on the street, and Ray realizes where he is. He pulls into his family garage, and Jack figures that Ray has figured out how to use the radio so they'd better be careful. Ray goes inside and asks Margaret where Steve is. She has no idea what he's talking about, and Ray says that he saw the murder and there was no witness. Margaret insists that they can't change history and Ray has to accept that Steve was executed.

Archie tries to tell Ray about the radio, but Ray doesn't want to hear anything from him. Margaret says what happened to Steve did enough damage to the family. Jack listens at the window, while Archie finally says that Johnny want the radio back. Ray says that Johnny can't have it, and goes through his father's newspaper clippings to find a picture of the lawyer and kill him before he prosecutes Steve.

As Ray goes to the garage, Archie follow him. Johnny is trying to break into the garage with Micki, and they both hide when the Pierce brothers come out. Ray admits that he killed Elliot, much to Archie's shock, and Ray shoves Archie into a tool bench and tells him to keep his mouth shut. Jack joins Johnny and Micki, as Johnny hears Ray attacking Archie and runs to the locked garage door.

Archie instinctively grabs a hammer, and Ray takes it and beats his brother to death as Johnny watches from the door window. The trio break into the garage, and Ray jumps into the Chevy. Micki goes to Archie's corpse, while Jack and Johnny grab the car as they try to stop Ray. He locks the door, turns on the radio, and smears it with Archie's blood.

The Chevy travels back to 1954 and appears on a country road. Jack and Johnny, touching it, are transported along with it. Ray drives away, and Johnny and Jack realize where they are from a nearby "I Like Ike" billboard.

Ray drives to the Pierce house and knocks at the door. Steve answer and Ray tells him that he has to get out of town. Ray shows him the clipping of the lawyer, Henry Emmett, and says that Emmett will use the new civil rights law to bring Steve to trial. Margaret comes in, and Steve tells her that it's never happening and he doesn't plan to "surrender in their "war".

When Ray says that Steve is going to be convicted and hung, Archie is playing and overhears. The boys tarts chanting "Daddy killed a Negro", and Ray tells Steve that his unborn child will grow up without a father. Steve tells Archie to shut up, and Ray begs Steve to listen to him. He tells Steve to get the KKK together, and he'll find Emmett and kill him so there's never a trial. Steve agrees, saying he'll talk to the Grand Dragon, and Ray leaves to find the lawyer.

Archie keeps chanting, and Steve slaps him. The boy falls and hits his head, and screams in pain. Margaret hears her son and comes back from the kitchen. Out in the car, Ray hears Steve yelling at Archie and drives off.

Johnny and Jack walk into town, and Jack says that he saw Ray smear Archie's blood on the radio. Jack figures that Ray returned to 1954 to change history and prevent Steve from being hung. Emmett is in front of the courthouse, saying that he and his men are there to see justice done. The townspeople angrily confront him. The sheriff arrives and Joe says that they're having "fun". Emmett says that he wants someone arrested for Wilten's murder, and the sheriff tells him that he needs some evidence. The lawyer says that he'll find someone who saw faces, and the sheriff tells him to make sure the witness lives to testify. The sheriff then casually tells the townspeople to go home, and leaves himself.

Jack tells Johnny that the rules may have changed but the feelings haven't. He send Johnny to find Ray, and then approaches Emmett. Emmett isn't thrilled to see Jack, and Jack warns him that the townsmen are angry about his investigation. The lawyer assumes that Jack is intimidating him and with the KKK, and says that nothing they can do will stop him before walking off.

In the present, the police arrive to check out Archie's murder. Micki claims that Ray just drove off after killing his brother. She talks to Margaret and offers her condolences, and Margaret says she always knew something like Archie's death would happen and goes into her house.

In 1954, Margaret is cradling the injured Archie in her arms. Ray arrives at the house, comes in through the open front door, and says that he needs to talk to Steve. When Margaret tells him that Steve isn't there, Ray asks if he can wait. Margaret agrees, and Ray tells her that he found Emmett. He notices the unconscious Archie, and tells Margaret that everything will be okay from now on, when he and Steve get rid of all the colored.

Margaret asks when Ray will realize that colored are people just like him, and killing them won't get rid of his anger. She looks at Archie and says that people like Ray will just take their anger out on someone else. Margaret tells Ray that Steve hits Archie, and worries that one time Steve will hit Archie too hard.

Across the street, Johnny is watching the house when Jack joins him. Jack tells Johnny not take the radio out of the Chevy, because they'll need it to get back to their time... with Ray. Johnny lifted Ray's clipping book from the Chevy, and Jack looks at the photos and realizes some of the men were among the townsmen at the courthouse. He takes the album and tells Johnny to keep following Ray, and leaves.

Jack takes the album to the sheriff and show it to him. The sheriff says that he's going to talk to some of the men, and points out that Jack wasn't there to testify that Steve killed Wilten. As the sheriff drives off, Jack spots three KKK members abduct Emmett, and load him into Steve's Chevy in 1954. Jack runs over and tries to stop them, and they easily overpower Jack and shove him into the back of the car with Emmett.

The KKK men take Jack and Emmett to a field where they're burning a cross. Steve arrives and tells the other clan members that they have spy in their midst. Johnny emerges from the trunk of Steve's Chevy where he hid, while Steve holds up the album and says that it's evidence of betrayal.

Realizing who his father is talking about, Ray removes his hood and tells Steve that he's making a mistake. Steve has his men tie Ray up, and Johnny sneaks into the present-day Chevy and hotwires it. As the KKK members hold Ray, Steve asks Ray if he's a "Negro lover" or an FBI agent. He doesn't believe Ray's denials, and they tie Ray to a pole.

Johnny starts up the Chevy and drives it through the crowd of men. They scatter, and Johnny gets out and opens fire with Steve's shotgun to drive off the rest. Emmett and Jack get into the Chevy, and Johnny fires a few warning shots, then gets into the Chevy and drives off. Realizing pursuit is futile, Steve has his men tie Joe to a pole as well, and Ray tells Steve that it's a mistake and he came there to save him. Steve removes his hood and sets Ray and Joe on fire. Ray screams to Steve, calling him "Daddy", and Steve realizes that Margaret is the witness against him that Ray warned him about, but let's Ray burn.

Jack and Johnny drop Emmett off, and Jack laments the fact that it's only 35 years ago. When they reach the spot where they appear, Jack has Johnny wipe the blood off the radio. They return to the present, and Micki is outside with Margaret. Micki runs over to hug them, while Margaret looks on and remembers the past.
