The 1st (and only?) dramatic episode of The Flying Nun. No laugh track. There were a couple of scenes where a little blood was involved, something you rarely see in a 60's sitcom.
Henry Jaglom and Sally Field had previously acted together in All the Best Diseases Are Taken (1965).
First aired in December 14, 1967, this plot conveys a message of optimism, empathy and hope during a harsh situation, being very appropriate for the Holiday season.
Going against the usual formula, this episode is original by being played out in a confined space, with only two actors and very dialogue intensive.
