A merman?
25 June 2014 | by stones78See all my reviews

This episode had 2 interesting stories going, one story has a man named Harold DeHaven,(John Saxon)who is a marine biology professor, on the hunt for something scientific to garner him respect by his colleagues. What he finds is a mermaid(Michelle Phillips), and he falls in love with her, much to the chagrin of his wife Amanda, played effectively by Mary Ann Mobley. My last comment for this decent segment is the lack of chemistry between the married couple, even though it ended well. The better segment stared someone I never heard of, Joan Prather, as a woman who has a fantasy to date a man she only met once, as he's played by James Darren. I didn't see this story going in the direction it did, and that was a welcome surprise. It turns out that he drugs her during their date, and she's taken hostage in a prostitution ring! Look for a few familiar faces in Robin Riker(Alligator, 1980), Yvonne De Carlo, Cliff Carnell, and one of the final performances by Dorothy Stratten. Out of both stories, this one was slightly better in my eyes, but most of the performers did a credible job.
