Tongues are wagging among the hotel staff when a young woman arrives asking for Charlie Haslemere. She identifies herself as a Miss Kipps and as working in a flower shop. Like the others, Louisa Trotter doesn't believe a word of it. While she is disinclined to interfere in Charlie's private life, Louisa is a bit jealous. When she finds a disguise among Miss Kipps' belongings, she demands to know what is going on. She learns that the young woman is actually Grace Tyrell, Charlie's cousin and an active suffragette.
