Peter is mad that the work he and the Hospital Benefit committee have done for their latest fundraiser was pulled at the last minute by their sponsor. With all her work contacts, Doris believes that she can organize a fashion show as a replacement fundraising event, even on such short notice. Peter asks Doris to liaise directly with someone from the committee to get it going. That person ends up being a nurse by the name of Lois Frazier. Despite Lois' seemingly cool attitude toward Doris by some implied personal connection to Peter, and the committee's reluctance to go ahead with the idea, Doris, with a little help from Cy, is able to convince them to let her go ahead. But something that Doris learns from Jackie half way through the show itself in combination with the fact that Doris felt Peter provided no support for her in dealing with the committee have the potential to destroy Doris' relationship with Peter. An excuse for Doris to change outfits about 20 times in one episode
7 April 2014 | by jjnxn-1See all my reviews

What the hell was that? Shot almost at the tale end of the eponymous star's series run it clearly shows that it was running on fumes.

Almost the entire running time is devoted to a fashion show with only one model, that would be Doris herself. She's in great shape, deeply tanned and trim and dressed in some knockout fashions that show those assets off. However she also wears both some astoundingly hideous outfits and some truly unflattering wigs. Add into that the fact that we are suppose to believe that the audience watching the show would patiently wait while Doris would totally transform her look and the whole thing becomes ridiculous.

The fashion show is framed with a few brief establishing scenes, some that feature Peter Lawford looking every one of his years, but as a whole it comes across as an excuse to show the star in a cavalcade of clothes to fill 24 minutes of air time.
