Trivia

Chris Boucher was unable to complete rewrites to the script due to his appointment as script editor on Blake's 7 (1978) so incoming script editor Anthony Read took over. This fact explains why, for a Boucher script, the story is unusually full of info-dumps, whereas they tend to crop up in Read's work, such as "The Horns of Nimon". See more »

Quotes

The Doctor: [Addressing a group of cows in a field] Good morning, ladies. Now which one of you has the time scanner, hm?
Leela: This doesn't look like the place, Doctor.
The Doctor: [referring to the Tardis's ability to bring them to the right coordinates] Now I did say "more or less," though this does look rather less than more. You know, I don't think these cows know anything about the time scanner.

Atmospheric, with a gothic horror vibe from the past.

Series fifteen is very hit and miss in my opinion, and the best offering is indeed Image of the Fendahl. Image of the Fendahl sees a return to a formula that had worked so successfully by the previous director, gothic horror.

The first part is very atmospheric, with a very creepy vibe, the opening scenes in particular are suitably eerie. We are treated to a terrific set of characters, with some terrific performances, Edward Arthur and Wanda Ventham are so good as the good guys, personally though, I will always remember this one for the fabulous turn from Daphne Heard as Mrs Tyler.

The duo of Tom and Leela wasn't necessarily my favourite combo, but in this one they work exceptionally well together.

Superb direction, great music, with a true sense of horror captured well. Part one is a definite triumph.
