    Storyline

    Edit
Rob and Laura put aside all else for one evening after Rob tells her that he has finished the manuscript for his first book. He hopes Laura will read the manuscript while he watches her, nervously trying to gage her reaction, but she'll have none of that. As Laura starts reading, she is excited to learn that the book is the story of their life, and she begins to reminisce about the situations written. Regardless of Laura's reaction, Rob is equally as anticipatory about the reaction of the publisher to whom he sent the manuscript. —Huggo

    Edit
    • Trivia
Sally Rogers (Rose Marie) comments that Alan intends to get Leonard Bershad to be the executive producer of the television series he intends to make from Rob's book. This is an inside joke referring to the real-life executive producer of "The Dick Van Dyke Show," Sheldon Leonard, whose real name was Sheldon Leonard Bershad.
    • Goofs
In this clip show the scene from season one ("Where Did I Come From") where Rob rushes home to take Laura to the hospital to have the baby shows a room opening on the street that is totally different from the living room used in the rest of the series as evidenced by the clip from season 3 "That's My Boy".
    • Quotes

Laura Petrie: I only read the first chapter. Is the rest as good?

Rob Petrie: Honey, it... Better. I improve as I get along. I be... I start to use punctuation, everything.

    A letdown
This seemed like a rather lazy effort to me. Over 80 percent of it was a rehash of scenes from previous episodes. It was nice to see Rob finish his book, though.
