In this episode, Rob recounts to Buddy and Sally how his honeymoon with Laura was a complete disaster. What follows is a lengthy flashback to Rob during his Army days. It seems that after Rob finally got out of the hospital (where he spent his wedding day and several days past it due to an illness), he's ready to use his 3-day pass for a honeymoon. However, his commanding officer is a jerk (much like Captain Queeg from "The Caine Mutiny") and has canceled all leaves due to a theft of some wine. This doesn't make any sense and seems cruel--especially since he won't make an exception for Rob. So, there's only one thing Rob has left to do...to sneak off the base and go AWOL. Of course, things don't go as planned and motel turns out to be a dump....and you'll have to see all that for yourself.
This is a very funny episode and it's a nice follow-up to "The Attempted Marriage" from season two. It's full of laughs and has a nice series of twists at the end. And, as one reviewer pointed out, it's made better by a lovely performance by Kathleen Freeman.
