      In 1853, Joseph Yves Limantour (1812-1885) filed claims for 200,000 acres of Mexican Land Grants in Northern California. Federal Court judged these claims to be fraudulent, and he was arrested in 1857. His son, Jose Yves Limantour (1854-1935), served as Secretary of Finance in Mexico from 1893 to 1911.
