The Kickapoo Run took place in 1895 in the Oklahoma Territory, and nothing to do with area around Death Valley (theme of the program). However, nothing about this episode claims to be about Death Valley. In fact, The Old Ranger specifically referred to "the West." Furthermore, many episodes take place outside the boundary of Death Valley, such as every episode set in or near Virginia City, NV.

    Pre-Davy Crockett Fess Parker
This episode concerns the Kickapoo Land Run in Oklahoma in 1895. Fess Parker plays a cowboy who wants to take part in it, but disqualified himself when he unknowingly camped on the land before the date of the run. He and his pal get hired as US marshals to patrol the area and make sure that no sooners get in early. He meets a spunky lass (Nancy Hale) from Kentucky who intends to take part and get her own land all by herself. A greedy no account nearly cheats her out of her claim, but Fess sees to it that everything turns out all right. Fess then rides off into the sunset, seemingly out of Nancy's life forever. But the story doesn't end there. Watch the episode to see how things turn out many years later.
