    • Trivia
Joaquin Murrieta went on a vicious crime wave from about 1849 until 1853 due to his wife's violent murder and his own ill-treatment. In 1853, the governor of California authorized the creation the California State Rangers for three months to track down Murrieta; 20 men were hired at $150 per month ($4600 in 2018). Captain Love and his men allegedly captured Murrieta (there is speculation that the head actually belonged to someone else), and Captain Love received a $1000 reward (nearly $31,000 in 2018).
