Storyline

While having lunch with her friends, Sue Ellen spots JR with another woman (again). Infuriated, she packs her bags and leaves Southfork, ready to leave the Ewing name behind and spend her life with another man. But when JR gets wind of who the other man is, he has no problem giving his own father what HE wants... his own grandchild back on Southfork. Meanwhile, Ray comes across the name of a roughneck who was supposedly working on an oil crew on Section 40. Written by Moviedude1

Trivia

This episode features the first of ten appearances by Martha Scott as Patricia Shepard, Sue Ellen's scheming mother. Scott has a storied history playing on-screen moms. Although only eleven years older than him, she has twice played mother to Charlton Heston, in The Ten Commandments (1956) and in Ben-Hur (1959). On television Scott was a memorable mom to such disparate sons as Tom Corbett on The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1969), Dr. Robert Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show (1972), and Col. Steve Austin on The Six Million Dollar Man (1974). See more »

Cliff Barnes: Maxwell?
Ben Maxwell: Yes.
Cliff Barnes: You want your development? You've got it. You've got anything you want. You just get me that appointment. And that's for starters. You get me enough power, and you've got anything you want.
[hangs up phone, says to himself]
Cliff Barnes: How's that for playing the game?
