Lusagne in the late afternoon: the children of the summer camp are returning from a long day of mountain walking, but Justine, 10 years old has disappeared. Her instructor, Marianne Helme, who is looking for her, has not returned either, and night falls. Alex and Angelo immediately mobilise volunteers and discover with terror the body of Marianne stranded in a torrent but no trace of Justine.
