Cheyenne rides into town looking for his friend Jim's ranch. He finds out where the ranch is but that he is not there. He's in jail and is going to be hanged soon. When he visits Jim, his friend is less than forthcoming as to why he is in jail. Cheyenne is godfather to Jim's daughter Susie so he buys a doll for her. However, some locals who work for Duke Rhein use it as an excuse to harass Cheyenne to take his measure. In doing so they break the doll. As Cheyenne investigates the circumstances surrounding Jim's arrest he learns Judge Roy McHenry, an old friend, was forced to rule on the evidence presented and rumors of illegal opium. He visits Jim's ranch to see his wife Mary and daughter Susie with a new music box for her. He learns from Jim's ranch hand Lonzo that cattle are running back and forth over the border in a more private fjord on Jim's land. He decides to pay Duke Rhein a visit in Mexico where he finds a key piece of the puzzle - if he survives. Written by DrDOS
