85-year old WWI war veteran Buzz Crowder returns to Cheers to meet with surviving members of his squad from the 22nd Brigade. They meet every 10 years at Cheers to reminisce about old times. As the evening progresses, a lonely Buzz realizes that the number of survivors is dwindling. Another new patron to the bar, Kevin, who is a virgin to the world of booze and debauchery, embarks on his first, and last, wild night before entering the monastery. Meanwhile, Diane keeps a collection of memorable quotes that she hears in the bar - "snippets of Americana" as she calls them. Sam becomes irked as one by one, all the regulars, without even trying, make it into Diane's quote book except him, who has been spitting out quotes all night with great effort. Written by Huggo

Nice Balance
5 August 2019 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

An old WW1 soldier reserves a room to meet with his old buddies. But it turns out he may be the only one left in his group. A young guy, waiting to enter a monastery decides the bar is his last hurrah before giving up his worldly being. That's the setup. Also, Diane is doing a Jack London, writing down pity comments made in the bar. Soon, Sam is trying too hard to come up with something for the book. Actually, some of his things are really good, but they are not spontaneous. Nicely put together episode.
