Quotes

Dr. Carl Hyatt: I wonder if Miss Richards is coming to dinner.
Jed Sills: Well, on the basis on what we can presume to be a previous habit, coupled with the time of day, the availability of an adequate food supply, it seems a reasonable conclusion that we shall see her, again.

Szorny family values

The Checkmate team gets one real unusual assignment in this story. Doug McClure, Anthony George, and Sebastian Cabot meet three brothers named Szorny played by Stefan Schnabel, Milton Selzer, and Daniel Ocko. The three are on the way to Los Angeles for the reading of their father's will. And they reach a mutual agreement to hire Checkmate because they all feel that one of the heirs is trying to kill the others and get a bigger inheritance. There's also a mysterious woman cousin on the train played by Ilka Windush.

These three are a trio of continental playboys who've really never done an honest day's work in their lives. Hardly an assignment that Checkmate relishes, but a job's a job.

This episode is scattered with some subtle humor in it despite the fact there are some attempts at homicide. The ending when they reach Los Angeles the brothers get one ironical wallop.

Very clever idea put into action by great writing and great acting all around.
