First decent episode this season...
And it's not saying much. The show lost a lot during it's fourth year. Including Milano's beautiful long hazel locks. The final battle was both rewarding and disappointing. Too little too late. It also gave the actress a chance to show a more nuanced acting, as queen of the underworld Phoebe. And the season ended exactly the way it did these past three years. With the sisters faced with a terrible choice, that might change their destiny forever... Alright. Early season 5 is a ridiculous mess, that was in full sitcom mode (they even dared the split screen during the premiere) with Alyssa Milano running the show down with her cringeworthy acting, and woman child nonsense. And that unbelievable 180 from Cole into a lovesick puppy. And Holly Marie Combs and Brian Krause, looking distant half of the time. One silver lining, Rose McGowan finally seemed to stop being the third wheel and is more assertive with her on-screen presence. I don't care why writers felt the need to justify it, her cherry blonde hair looks great. Episodes are your regular WB shows fillers, where the special guests are the only really good thing about it. That other mini revamp, to appeal to a larger crowd is all wrong. Everything good about this part involves old storylines. Sympathy for the demon, is not there yet, but it has Barbas back, and some of the writing/acting is good. Until next time...
