  Piper : Dolls? We tap into our powers with dolls?

  Eva : It's not just a doll, it's a totem. It reminds us of the wisdom and the power of women.

  Phoebe : Okay, but what does it have to do with...?

  Eva : The witch's journey is a walk of wisdom collected over the years, Phoebe. Wisdom gives us power. Power frightens the fearful and ignorant.

  Prue : Well, that would certainly explain why in our time, witches are made to look silly on Halloween.

  Eva : And this magic? This knowledge is forgotten?

  Phoebe : We could get it back if you teach us.

  Eva : Here. The conical hat is a spiritual point. It helps to channel our magic.

  [She puts it on Phoebe's head, while Phoebe gives a silly look] 

  Eva : Keeps us centered, focused.

  [She puts her hands together and draws them down while looking intently to Phoebe] 

  Eva : The apple holds a pentacle in its heart.

  [She shows two halves of a cut apple; takes a leaf and hold is at the heart of an apple half] 

  Eva : Add a laurel leaf, you will block the path of evil.

  Prue : A simple laurel leaf?

  Eva : Simple, but powerful. Remember, there is magic all around you. Especially on this night.

  Piper : Eh, what's with the masks?

  Eva : Demons walk freely on All Hallows Eve.

  [She takes a mask an holds it in front of her face] 

  Eva : So a mask allows you to hide your identity, walk amongst them.

  [hands over the mask to Piper] 

  Phoebe : Can I see that?

  [Points at a broom, one of the other women holds, and gets it handed over and peruse it while taking it] 

  Phoebe : Okay now, don't tell me you ride around on this thing.

  [laughs with disbelieve though secretly wishing it] 

  Eva : Anything's possible. Here. A broom's traditional purpose is to sweep evil from your path.

  [while showing Phoebe how to hold the broom stick properly] 

  Eva : Sweep east to west, same path as the sun travels.

  [while slowly sweeping with Phoebe, then lets go and Phoebe practices on her own] 

  Eva : Like anything else in magic, it's how you do it. With knowledge and reverence.

  Phoebe : Wow, do I feel silly.

  [laughs and a flash goes through the broom stick] 

  Phoebe : *Ahw*!

  Piper : What happened?

  Phoebe : Nothing.

  [Looks intensely at the broom stick while turning away] 

  Phoebe : Must have been just a spark.

  Eva : No. You felt the power.

  [Nods while looking at Phoebe] 

  Eva : All right, Sally will go with you to Ruth's house. She'll give you the last few things you'll need. I wish I could go with you.

  Prue : We'll do great. You've armed us well.

  Eva : Remember, *connect* with the power of this day.

  Prue : [Looks at Eva and nods earnestly]
