I agree, not a bad story, which should have been a Bobby and Peter episode, but tailored for new family member Oliver. It's also a familiar storyline of hearing the wrong thing at the wrong time and doing the wrong math...
It all begins with Mike talking to a special agent from the FBI concerning the project he's working on, getting the attention of Bobby and Oliver --then Sam, the butcher, acting kinda', sorta' mysterious?
The guys put it all together and think Sam's an undercover spy! More over, his landlord, Mr. Gronsky (who is helping him do some store remodeling) is dragged into the mix as Sam's accomplice. You have to admit, Gronsky looks like a character from MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.
Writer Howard Osteff, who later wrote for NIGHT COURT, may have pulled a few ideas from the story where everyone thought Alice was going to secretly marry Sam... and all the wrong theories. It has that feel. Well directed by Bernard Wiesen, who got a good performance from Robbie Rist, who also has some of the best lines. Wiesen is best known as the producer of JULIA.
Look out for Sam's BIG freezer again. SEASON 5 EPISODE 19 remastered color.
