It's Christmas day and Richie is cooking the dinner to which Dave Hedgehog and Spudgun are invited. Dinner is not up to Michelin standard, but Richie's day improves when he finds out he is the son of God.
Richie and Eddie invite Spudgun and Dave Hedgehog to join them for Christmas dinner. During the fun and games, Richie finds a baby boy on the doorstep and believes that the baby is Jesus; Eddie, Spudgun, and Dave Hedgehog are the Three Wise Men; and he is the Chosen One who has been kept pure by God. When Richie accidentally chops off his finger, a prosthetic hand was used to use and a hidden tube was wired up and hidden underneath Rik Mayall's shirt arm, which the fake blood was pumped by a special effects artist off-camera. See more »
Eddie accidentally staples the wrong finger on Ritchie's hand and Richie cries out in pain. Yet for the rest of the episode there is no damage noticeable on his other fingers. See more »
Haven't you got through to the Pope yet?
[looking at telephone directory]
What do you mean, "Pope, G."? He's not Pope Gavin is he? He's Pope John Paul. Look under "Pope, J.P."!
J.P. Oh, here he is: "Pope, J.P." I didn't know he lived in Twickenham.

Everything you'd expect from a Bottom Christmas Special
I have decided over the holiday season to review 12 Christmas related titles. For my second of these reviews I decided to review this because well, it counts. It's everything you'd expect from a Bottom episode and it never really moves beyond expectations.
The plot is that Richie is a Christmas nut and, while posing as Santa gets hanged by Eddie by trying to steal his bottle of alcohol. Eddie lets him down as long as he pays 10 quid. They then get prepared for the party ahead in usual Bottom style - by Richie trying to set up, Eddie either being too clueless or misinterpreting his words as being sexual and they beat the crap out of each other. When the party does come around will they have an unexpected visit from Jesus himself?
As you've probably guessed this is certainly unlike other Christmas specials in the sense that this one doesn't have a message. All the episode is is just the usual over-the-top, stupid, violent and perverted humour of Bottom. So if you want to see idiots find a baby on their doorstep, then give it "Gold" "Frankenstein" and "Grrr" while three are wearing Christmas Cracker crowns and the other is wearing a blue towel over his head then this is certainly the Christmas special for you. It's over the top, it's stupid, it's violent, it's perverted but hey! That's why we love this show right?
