Hoss goes Dutch treat
bkoganbing17 September 2020
In this Bonanza story Dan Blocker is assaulted and robbed of everything including his memory. When husband and wife immigrant Dutch farmers find him Blocker has some severe amnesia.

Robert Emhardt and Signe Hasso are the farmers and they lost their son and Hasso is quite willing to adopt Blocker as their own. Even after Lorne Greene comes calling looking for his lost middle son.

This was a really tender and gentle episode with Hasso just wonderful as the grieving mother.

Interesting episode

Warning: Spoilers
Bonanza was a great show that you could count on to not just show mean people and gunfights. There are touching episodes, some with good morality elements, and some very funny comical episodes. The show really changes up the plots to keep things interesting though every now and then, like other series, has the occasional clunker but that is very rare. This episode is one of those that will tug at your heart. The writers/producers were very smart to save episodes like this one until later seasons until after you got to know the Cartwrights. Hoss is robbed and knocked unconscious and loses his memory. He comes across a very nice older man and woman who had lost a son and decide to make Hoss their son since he has no memory of who he is. He stays at their house a few days and Ben finds out he might be there. He goes there and the man and woman claim they have not seen him. They plan to go to Michigan and take Hoss before Ben finds out Hoss is there. Later he goes back and sees Hoss and Hoss doesn't know his Pa. Ben invites them to stay at his house for a few days before leaving, hoping Hoss will regain his memory while there. . While there, Hoss regains his memory and all is well except the man and woman are sad to lose yet another "son". Good show.
