Baker took his advice and delivered a different performance for the technical run in the afternoon of the recording. However, the producer and director were horrified by this different interpretation, thinking he was ill, and told him to go back to playing it the way it was rehearsed. Baker said Atkinson never spoke to him again and he skipped the party after the show to avoid being snubbed by Atkinson.
