Number Six: All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.
Dr. Gaius Baltar: Everyone knows that verse. What are you getting at?
Number Six: Remember this one? Led by serpents numbering two and ten.
Dr. Gaius Baltar: The Vipers, they're the serpents?
Number Six: There's a later verse, Gaius. You should read it. Though the outcome favoured the few, it led to a confrontation at the home of the gods.
Commander William Adama: [Adama finds Lee sitting alone in the Viper hangar the night before a big mission. He sits next to him] Can't sleep? I couldn't either before a big op.
[Looks at Viper]
Commander William Adama: Mark II. Good ship. Got me out of a lot of tough scrapes. Got something for you. Belonged to your grandfather.
[Hands Lee a cigarette lighter]
Commander William Adama: My mom bought it for him when he was in law school. See the engraving on it?
Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama: [the lighter reads 'Joseph Adama'] Yeah I can barely make it out but...
Commander William Adama: He was a better father than I was. Dad used to carry that into court cases. Claimed he never lost unless he left it behind.
Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama: So you're worried too?
Commander William Adama: About what?
Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama: You know sometimes it feels like the whole ship thinks uh, Starbuck would do better.
Commander William Adama: I don't.
Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama: How can you be so sure?
Commander William Adama: Because you're my son.
[the two stare quietly at each other for a moment]
Commander William Adama: Get some rest. You're gonna need it.
[Gets up to walk away]
[Holds up lighter]
Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama: I'll bring it back.
Commander William Adama: You better, or I'll kick your ass. That's a good lighter.
Elosha: Three thousand six hundred years ago, Pythia wrote about the exile and the rebirth of the human race. And the Lords anointed a leader to guide the caravan of the heavens to their new homeland. And unto the leader they gave a vision of serpents, numbering two and ten as a sign of things to come.
President Laura Roslin: Pythia wrote that?
Elosha: She also wrote that the new leader suffered a wasting disease and would not live to enter the new land. But you're not dying.
Elosha: Are you?
Commander William Adama: There are no reserve Vipers. Everything is on the board already. Now we play for all the marbles. Starbuck, it's your plan.
Lt. Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace: Mr. Gaeta will you please tell D to get on the scrambler and inform Apollo the back door is open?
Lt. Felix Gaeta: Aye, Lieutenant.
[on comm set to Dualla]
Lt. Felix Gaeta: D, please send a scrambler to Capt. Apollo. Message reads, The back door is open.
Officer Anastasia Dualla: Apollo, Galactica. Back door is open. Back door is open. Godspeed, Apollo.
Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama: Look. You're worried that I'm not gonna put out a fire with some high-risk, retina-detaching move the way Starbuck would. Look, Kara, I'm sorry you're not suiting up because, believe me, everyone would feel so much better, me included, if you were riding along with us. But this isn't an ego trip; this is my job... & don't think for one moment that I won't Get It Done.
