A long-missing. bejeweled gold cross, on its way to LA from a retired American gangster in Mexico anxious to reform his image, turns into worthless junk without ever leaving the possession of the couriers assigned to its delivery. The church asks Banacek to figure out where and how the switch was pulled off.
