Trivia

Sir Horace Winslip's accent is very plummy when he gives the name of his little train. He is saying 'John of Gaunt'; he is not saying 'John Galt'. In the 15th century, John of Gaunt, the son of a king, founded the House of Lancaster and became the ancestor of a few more kings. He was also the richest man in England at that time. See more »

Goofs

The display on the wall showing the radar outage area is the same as the clock on the operating room wall minus the hands, but the spindle is still seen in the middle. See more »

Quotes

Sir Horace Winslip: [having lunch with Steed aboard his indoor railway carriage] I wouldn't travel any other way, would you? Can't possibly enjoy a meal any other way. Brought up on trains, you know. My father made all his money out of trains. And now, if I attempt to eat a meal without the gentle rocking and the scenery flashing by, I get the most dreadful indigestion.

Their secret of success in a nutshell
17 February 2009 | by slabihoudSee all my reviews

Watching the "Gravediggers" one can well see the way that "The Avengers" have come since their start. Done a season or two before the whole story might have been treated totally different. There is a serious approach to the plot at the beginning but as soon as the gravedigger take off with the corpse we know where we are. Many great scenes take place in a hospital, but the greatest attraction is the house and grounds of a train-crazy old fellow and his butler. This episode has everything that made "The Avengers" since Diana Rigg's appearance world famous. I'm not telling you more in case you have not seen it. But go see it!
