Storyline

Agent Dobson is pursued by a wheelchair-bound old lady who tosses him a ball. When he picks it up he hallucinates that he is a child in a nursery and then the old lady shoots him. He was investigating the leakage of state secrets and Steed discovers that each of the three suspects had a childhood nanny, Nanny Roberts, who is being held captive for information at a sinister school for nannies whose head plans to destroy the nation's power stations by impersonating nannies and hypnotizing the men into giving him their locations. Steed and Emma pay the school a visit to stop him. Written by don @ minifie-1

Trivia

The concept of chemicals that quickly penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream is perfectly true. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a prime example. If you put on two layers of latex gloves and place a drop of DMSO on the back of your gloved hand, it will get into your blood such that you can actally taste it in less than three seconds. "Something Nasty in the Nursery" is not of the better episodes, but it has its moments. Defense secrets are being leaked and it's connected to the organization G.O.N.N. (Guild of Noble Nannies), when grown men containing vital information inexplicably revert to infantile behavior. The evil, machine gun-toting nanny looks like PSYCHO's Norma Bates, and there is an eerie atmosphere to the not so innocent childhood regressions that lifts it out of the ordinary. Dudley Foster ("The Hour That Never Was" and "Wish You Were Here") heads a good cast, with Penelope Keith ("The Murder Market" and "Take Me to Your Leader") receiving credit but not appearing on screen. Paul Eddington, previously seen in "Immortal Clay," and Patrick Newell, previously seen in "The Town of No Return" (and future Mother the final season), would both appear on THE BENNY HILL SHOW during the 70s.
