Storyline

Young Highland Guardsman Corporal Craig is found shot, his corpse containing bullets from three separate guns. He has been shot by a firing squad, for treason, and when Steed re-enlists in the Army under his old rank of Major, he could very well end up the same way, thanks to a bizarre plot by latter day Jacobites, whose plan is to overthrow the monarchy and crown a descendant of the Stuart dynasty, a descendant who just happens to be Mrs. Gale! Quotes

John Steed: [pointing at a bottle] Look, if you're going to open that, you'd better be quick, I'm going to be shot in half an hour.
Private Jessop: Oh, aye, it doesn't give you much time, does it?
[as he uses both hands to open the bottle, he pulls Steed's arm along as they are handcuffed together]
John Steed: Oh Je-
[cork pops]
John Steed: Jessop, can't we get divorced just until I've finished my meal?

Roy Kinnear in his first appearance
5 February 2011 | by kevinolzakSee all my reviews

"Esprit De Corps" is a rare dud, beginning well with an execution by firing squad, but quickly losing steam as a military coup seeks to capture the throne of Scotland, which would make Cathy Gale the new Queen (it's as ludicrous as it sounds). As he always does, Roy Kinnear steals every scene as Private Jessop, who looks after Steed's safety throughout, provided he is well compensated (he would return in "The Hour That Never Was," "The See-Through Man," and "Bizarre"). This was the fourth and last appearance for Douglas Robinson (last seen in "Man with Two Shadows"), and the third of four for Anthony Blackshaw ("The Sell-Out," "The Mauritius Penny," "Super Secret Cypher Snatch").
