In the final scene, when the Taylors catch the bus, they pull up to the curb in the squad car. When the bus leaves the car has disappeared.
As Andy, Aunt Bee, and Opie drive away on the bus, Helen is in the front row with others waving goodbye. As the bus drives away (pass the camera) and the crowd reappears, Helen is no longer visible in the crowd of people waving goodbye.
