  • When the milkman gets a truck to do his deliveries, Opie is asked to care for his old delivery horse, Dolly. After she refuses to eat for several days, they figure out what's wrong.

  • It's the end of an era in Mayberry when Walt Simpson, the milkman, needs to retire his horse-drawn milk wagon and start using a modern truck. He plans a nice home for his horse however and hires Opie to take care of it while he is away for a week. Andy isn't too keen on Opie taking on that responsibility remembering what had happened when Opie had agreed to deliver someone's morning papers only to have Andy delivering them himself. Opie is conscientious however, traveling every day to Simpson's farm to feed the horse. The problem is that it simply won't eat and becoming very concerned, gets Andy's help. The vet can't quite figure out what is going on but they soon find the root of the problem.
