Storyline

Andy stops by Peggy's house to pick her up for their date only to find that an old high school friend of hers passing through town, Don, has stopped in to see her. Andy is a bit jealous, and when Peggy suggests that Don come along on their date, Andy refuses and storms out of the house. Barney immediately decides that the best thing for Andy is to get him dating right away and arranges with Thelma Lou for him to meet her friend Lydia Crosswaithe, which turns into a bit of a disaster. He then calls a couple of girls he knows, Skippy and Daphne, and arranges for them to meet, but things go awry when Daphne's boyfriend shows up. Written by garykmcd/edited by statmanjeff

Not many better ...
19 January 2008 | by StevePhSee all my reviews

This is an underrated episode, in my opinion. It is at least one of the 10 funniest in the show's history and might even be the best. The Fun Girls speak for themselves when it comes to providing laughter, but the living room scene with Lydia prior to their appearance is brilliant. No matter how many times I see the re-run, I can't help being amused at this scene.

I have always wished Lydia and the Fun Girls had appeared in a few more episodes, but maybe that would have destroyed some of the novelty. As it is, they've never grown old or tiresome -- four decades and counting.
