Very nice...

Warning: Spoilers
Aunt Bee is about to take a small trip but she is afraid to go--after all, the men have no idea how to cook or clean or do anything for themselves. However, Andy assures Bea he can and will do a good job--he wants her just to enjoy her visit and leave the home to him. However, Bee's prediction of disaster is 100% true--Andy and Opie practically destroy the house and can barely feed themselves. Fortunately, the nice neighbor Bertha Edwards (pre-name change to Clara Edwards) sees their plight and comes to their aid. Can the men manage to keep this from Bee when she returns--as they don't want her to know they were 'cheating on her' so to speak! While this is not a great episode, it is a very good one and quite enjoyable. Plus, it's quite funny seeing the two hapless men trying, in vain, to fend for themselves. Cute.

Andy and Opie make Aunt Bee's nightmares come true when she leaves for a couple days to take care of a friend. What they do to the house is beyond belief. Andy is pathetic as the procrastinator of the two, not trying at all to do a thing. But no good deed goes unpunished, as the conclusion shows.

Opie must think adults are nuts...

Warning: Spoilers
What sort of nonsense is this ? Aunt Bea leaves on a trip and will be away from home for several days.

Andy and Opie find out that they rely more on Aunt Bea to keep the house tidy than they realized.

However; They also learn that they can do for themselves all the stuff that Aunt Bea does for them.

Basically,Andy and Opie let the housecleaning go for most of the time that Aunt Bea is gone.

Naturally,the work starts piling-up.

Right before Aunt Bea is scheduled to return,Andy and Opie get serious and get the place cleaned-up.

So far,so good,right?

Then, the dumbest part of the show makes an appearance. What happens? After cleaning the house up,Andy gets the idea that Aunt Bea will think she is not needed...Why? Because the house is clean!

So what does Andy do ? He and Opie un-do all the cleaning they just worked so hard on,and they 'dirty-up' the house right before Aunt Bea gets home.

Ridiculous I say. I don't think Aunt Bea is going to move out because the house is cleaner than expected, how silly is that?

Aunt Bea is tough enough to handle a clean house I say.

Andy and Opie 1 episode temporary pigs.

Barney, Ellie and Floyd are missing from a sappy formula episode. I don't mind rediculous if it's funny. This was ridiculous and unfunny. The level of sloppiness was really vile actually being filthy. A running gag that didn't work beat to death for the whole ½ hour. Then, one breach of logic after another. The mess would actually need a professional crew all day to tackle. Andy has cooking skills here which will waver back and forth all series. Then, it's of course the tugging at the heart strings bit with Aunt Bee's feelings hurt. I'm pretty hard on the episode because I thought it was a copout instead of crafting a quality episode.
