Shopping Market Scene at the Beginning was Hysterical
11 June 2014 | by jayraskinSee all my reviews

At the beginning of this episode, there is a marvelous scene in a supermarket where Ally gets into a fight with another shopper over a container of potato chips. It is a beautifully written and acted scene of comic escalation done with perfect timing. It gets the episode off to a great start and leads to all kinds of surprising developments.

I think it beautifully shows what is wrong with the "Stand your ground" laws in the U.S. You get two strong willed people in an argument and they're just going to go at it until one of them wins. The Stand your Ground laws provides a motivation for one person to quickly turn to violence.

In this case, Ally doesn't pull out a gun, but she does do something quite nasty.

This is another great first season episode.
