This episode is a parody of the 1994 film , directed by . In this episode, Grandma () mans the phone at the bookstore and Mr. Kim's friend Desmond (Tarantino) arrives with a delivery of some videotapes. Margaret () arrives and she and Desmond talk briefly about movies, and he asks her out to dinner, saying they can watch afterwards. She is uninterested at first, telling Mr. Kim ) that Desmond is "a square," but he convinces her and she agrees to the date. Desmond takes her to Fantasy Diner, a '70s-themed restaurant, and Margaret is soon charmed by his knowledge of pop culture trivia and his dancing skills. Later, Mrs. Kim () prepares dinner and expresses her doubts about Desmond, but when he arrives, he shows off his knowledge of Korean and presents the family members with gifts, including a football for Eric (), who recently twisted an ankle playing sports.
